Edward T. Zywiec of Columbus died Monday July 4, 2011 at Morys Haven in Columbus.
Edward T. Zywiec was born July 30, 1929 in Krakow, rural Genoa, Nebraska to Pete and Barbara (Dush) Zywiec. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from August 1951 - May 1953. Following his discharge, he continued to serve in the National Guard. Ed married Elizabeth "Betty" Kuta on April 24, 1954 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. The couple lived in Columbus where he worked at Montgomery Ward, Firestone Tire and with the Columbus Public School System. He was a member of St. Anthony Church,Eagles Club and a lifetime member of VFW #3704 and the Hartman Post #84 American Legion. Ed enjoyed playing the harmonica, fishing and spending time at his cabin with family and friends.
