Edward T. Shotkoski, age 85, of Columbus died Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Miksch will officiate. Visitation is Tuesday 4-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home. There will be a vigil service held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors by American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard will be in the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Isidore Church.
Edward T. Shotkoski was born June 2, 1922 in Genoa, Nebraska to Walter and Julia (Sturek) Shotkoski. He grew up in Genoa where he graduated from Genoa High School. He attended college and earned his engineering degree. Ed served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theatre. He married Marjorie Webster Walbridge on February 8, 1953 in Gretna, Nebraska. They lived in various Nebraska cities before moving to Columbus in 1961. Ed worked for the State of Nebraska-Department of Roads as an engineer for 41 years, starting in 1957. He enjoyed woodworking and his coffee buddies. He has been a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church since it's inception in 1963.
