Edward Carl Sempek, age 76, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday December 2, 2002 at his home. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday December 5, 2002 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation is 3:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Thursday also at the funeral home.
Edward Carl Sempek was born January 3, 1926 in Humphrey, Nebraska to Carl and Theodosia H. (Micek) Sempek. He attended District #42 School in Platte County and helped on the family farm. On April 25, 1950 he married Genevieve M. Laska at St. John's in rural Lindsay. He farmed in the Lindsay, Monroe, and Columbus area until 1974. Edward worked for the Platte County Highway Department from 1976 until retiring in 1988. He enjoyed attending antique farm machinery and tractor shows, gardening and flowers, and spending time with his granddaughter Angela. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
