Edward Korgie

Edward John Korgie, age 78, of Mauston, Wisconsin died Thursday, September 23, 2004 at his home in Mauston. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday September 27, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Del Lape officiating. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation is 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Sunday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.

Edward John Korgie was born June 22, 1926 in Columbus, Nebraska to Charles and Victoria (Sus) Korgie. He grew up in Columbus and attended St. Anthony School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from October, 1944 - August, 1946. Following the service he returned to Columbus and worked at Becton - Dickinson for 11 years. He then became a union carpenter working out of Columbus and also worked for Hawkins Construction in Omaha. On November 29, 1969 he was united in marriage to Judith Matyas at Immaculate Conception Church in Omaha. From 1973 - 1991 Ed worked as a self-employed homebuilder until retiring and moving to Wisconsin in 1996.
