Edward "Gene" Jakub died Monday, December 26, 2016 at his home.
Edward "Gene" Jakub was born March 4, 1943 in Columbus, Nebraska to Edward James and Leola (Jacobs) Jakub. He received his education in Schuyler. He served in the Army Reserves from 1964-1970. Gene married Yvonne (Willers) Krohn on November 28, 1981 in Columbus. He worked for Case Implement, Central Sand & Gravel, Sands Livestock, NPP, and The Maschhoffs. He enjoyed spending time at his farm, racing cars and attending car shows and swap meets. Gene was well known in the racing circuit and was inducted into the Beatrice Speedway Racing Hall of Fame. He was gifted at repairing and fixing things. Gene was a member of the American Legion Hartman Post #84 and the Disabled American Veterans.
