Edward H. Iwansky of Columbus died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Papillion Manor.
Edward H. Iwansky was born January 12, 1924 in Howells, NE to Edward J. and Bessie (Suchan) Iwansky. The family moved to Lindsay in 1927. Ed graduated from Lindsay Holy Family High School in 1942. He entered the US Marine Corp during World War II where he served in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. On November 12, 1946 Ed married Gladys Cockson in Pilsno. Ed worked for Montgomery Wards and later from 1981 until 1995 worked as a building inspector for the City of Columbus. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church where he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society and recently moved to Omaha where he joined St. John Vianney Catholic Church. Ed also was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Ed actively volunteered at Columbus Community Hospital, American Legion Club Bingo, and at St. Isidore Church. He was an avid Husker fan and loved watching his children and grandchildrens activities.
