Edward A. Hittner died Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at his home at Crown Villa.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. June 25, 2024, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. June 24, 2024, at the McKown Funeral Home. There will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service. Interment will be in Birchwood, Wisconsin.

Edward A. Hittner  grew up in Cornlea and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis High School.  He started his college education at Creighton University and  finished  his bachelor's degree  in Math and Science at Wayne State.  Later, Ed returned to Creighton where he received his masters degree. Ed was united in marriage to Mary Gunderson on August 17, 1968 in Birchwood, WI.

Ed taught math and science at Silver Creek High School in Ne, and at Woodrow Wilson Jr High School, in Council Bluffs, IA. Ed served as the Principal at Grand Community Schools in Boxholm, IA, then Scotus Central Catholic. After 17 years in education, ED made a career change to become a purchasing manager and Human Resource Manager at Torin Products and Orion Manufacturing. Ed loved fishing, playing cards, golfing, and traveling.  He and Mary had the opportunity to visit all 50 states and several foreign countries. Ed was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. He was also a member of organizations such as: Knights of Columbus, the Sertoma Club, Eagles, and the Elks Lodge.

Ed is survived by his wife Mary Hittner, daughter Karen "Kari" (Tim) Gleason of O'Neill, NE, son Brian (Nikki) Hittner of Washington, DC, son Andrew "Andy" (Zoey) Hittner, 5 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Marilyn, and brother Neal.

In lieu of plants and flowers, the family suggests memorials to Scotus Central Catholic High School or to the wishes of the family.
