Edna Dalton of Columbus, formerly of Genoa, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Edna H. Dalton was born August 8, 1917 to Howard and Minnie (Larson) Christman in Genoa, Nebraska. She graduated from Genoa High School and received her RN degree at St Joseph School of Nursing in Omaha. She was united in marriage to Kenneth R. Dalton on December 27, 1939 on her parents farm near Monroe. After helping her husband through medical school, they settled in Genoa in 1946 where she was a long time nurse at the Genoa Community Hospital assisting her husband in surgeries. Ednas greatest enjoyment was spending time with her granddaughters and great-grandchildren, playing cards and baking, especially angel food cakes, cookies and cinnamon twists for everyone to enjoy. She was a member of the Genoa Congregational Church where she taught Sunday School and later attended the United Methodist Church in Monroe. She was a member of the PEO Chapter in Genoa.

She is survived by son, Dr. Jack (Pauline) Dalton of New York, New York, their daughter Jade (Tom) Bassett; daughter, Judy (Russ) Workman of Lincoln, Nebraska and their daughters; Kendra (Mike) Byington, Heather (Mike) Farwell and Abby Workman and daughter, Anne (Larry) Pilakowski of Columbus and their daughters; Lisa (Pat) Garrett, Nicole (Joe) Driewer and Laura (Matt) Buttermore, and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, two sons Eugene and Michael, daughter-in-law Mabel Dalton, brothers William and Wallace Christman, sisters Irene Stein, Lois Irwin and Gertrude Tessier.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Youth for Christ, Columbus or United Methodist Church in Monroe.
