Edmund J. Kasarda

Edmund J. Kasarda of Genoa died Wednesday, August 20 at his home in Genoa.
Edmund Joseph Kasarda was born January 29, 1932 in Forest City, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Mary (Payer) Kasarda. He grew up in Carbondale, Pennsylvania where he graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in 1950. He later received his Associates Degree from Central Community College in Columbus. Ed served in the Pennsylvania National Guard before enlisting in the US Air Force in 1950. He was a career service member having served for 22 years in the United States Air Force. He finished out his service career by serving in the Air Force Reserve. Ed achieved the rank of Master Sargeant. He received several medals to include the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the USAF Small Arms Expert Medal. He worked in comunications and electronics. Ed later worked for Lammers Electric and Hoessel Electric. He also taught electronics at Central Comunity College in Columbus for 13 years.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW. St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Black Powder Muzzleloaders Club and the N.R.A. He loved gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing and caring for his orchard. Ed was also a supporter of the US Indian School Museum in Genoa.
