Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery following funeral services.  A luncheon will be held at Peace Lutheran Church for all of Doug's family and friends following interment.

Douglas Ray Kuhn, son of Gottlieb and Emma (Blemmel) Kuhn, was born December 20, 1943, in Columbus, NE, and grew up on the family farm outside of Platte Center, NE.  He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Columbus.  He attended elementary school at a small rural school, District 35, and graduated from Columbus High School in 1962.

During high school, Doug began farming part time on the family farm.  His experience contributed to him receiving the FFA State Star award for the state of Nebraska his senior year of high school.  After graduation, he continued to farm full time.  In 1964, he enlisted in the National Guard, serving proudly, before his discharge in 1970.

On July 20, 1968, Doug married Kathleen R. Stolte at Zion Lutheran Church, Ocheyedan, IA.  They made their home on the farm, raising their 5 children Becky, Jeff, Jon, Julie and Megan.

In addition to row crop, Doug and his family spent many summers bailing and selling hay at the Columbus Racetrack. He also spent 30 years as a maintenance man at the Cargill meat packing plant in Schuyler, NE. These years also included driving across the country on many family vacations, to include Washington D.C., New York, and Las Vegas. He enjoyed history, his National Geographic collection, playing cards and bowling with Kathy and their friends, fishing at Kluever Lake, and coaching the Platte Center t-ball team long after their own children were no longer playing.

After retirement, he stayed busy in his garage and garden.  This free time also allowed him to travel to his grandchildren's many school and sporting events, both near and far.  He greatly enjoyed attending these events over the years and would send out a loud whistle to let the family member know that he was in attendance.

Doug was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by:
