Douglas Scott was born June 13, 1959 in Columbus, Nebraska to Gene and Mary (Steiner) Bierman. He received his early education and St. Anthonys Grade School and graduated from Scotus Central High School in 1977. He received his degree in drafting from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. After graduating college, he moved to Kearney and started a branch of the family construction business. He also owned a successful storage unit facility. He was married to Evelyn Diehl on June 14, 2000.
Scott believed deeply in the value of hard work, lending a hand to others, and never missing an opportunity to share a laugh. He built a life rooted in generosity, compassion, and creativity—always finding meaningful ways to give back to his community. Whether he was volunteering through the Cosmos or the Eagles Club, crafting custom beds and chests for his family, Scott poured his time and talent into making life better for those around him.
He was the kind of person who showed up, reliably selflessly, and without hesitation whenever someone needed help. Even during his courageous 10-month battle with cancer, Scott remained remarkably strong in spirit. He faced each day with a positive attitude, continuing to think of others and offer encouragement, humor, and love. His resilience and selflessness never wavered, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
