Dorothy M. Kyriss of Columbus died Wednesday, October 9, 2002 at her home. Funeral services are 9:00 am Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Grimmond, Rev. Richard Swolek, and Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation will be after 5:00 pm at St. Anthony Church. There will be a Vigil service at 7 pm Friday at St. Anthony Church. Interment will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Dorothy Marie Kyriss was born May 14, 1932 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Charles and Lucille (Swolek) Encinger. She moved to Columbus and attended St. Anthony Grade School & graduated from Kramer High School in 1950. On June 12, 1954 Dorothy was united in marriage to Donald E. Kyriss. She worked as Deputy County Clerk under Carl Hoge until being appointed Platte County Election Commissioner until retiring in 1996. Dorothy was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, St. Theresa Sodality, served as EME and Church Lector. She was a member of the American Business Womens Association , Eagles Auxiliary , Womens Division, and Alumni Board at Columbus High School. Dorothy enjoyed shopping and being with her family.
