Dorothy Cromwell

Dorothy Cromwell, age 85, of Columbus died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

She was born in Columbus, on July 26, 1928, the daughter of Leo and Rose (Weiss) Wozny. She was baptized, received First Communion, confirmed and married at St. Bonaventure Church. She was Saturday evening organist at St. Rose of Lima Church, in Genoa, for over 39 years. She was a 50-year member of Catholic Daughters of America, Court Little Flower #988, in Columbus.

She married Werner (Gary) Cromwell, on May 24, 1950. Two daughters were born to this marriage, Jane Lee and Joan Kay.

After graduating from St. Bonaventure High School in May 1946, she worked as a legal secretary to attorney Jesse L. Dougherty for four years. After her marriage she worked as a freelance court reporter. In 1957 she was employed by the Columbus Bank as Executive Secretary, a position she held for 12 years. When she moved with her family to Genoa, she was employed by Genoa National Bank as Executive Secretary, Cashier, and Loan Officer, for 11 years. In May 1980, she was appointed Associate County Judge/Clerk Magistrate for the Nancy County Court and subsequently the same position in Boone County. She retired from full time employment in July 1993.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; two daughters, Jane Lee Cromwell, of Schuyler, and Joan Kay Cromwell, of Lincoln; two granddaughters, Leslie Lyn Styskal, of Genoa, and Amanda Lee Stutzman, of David City; five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb and Isaac Styskal, and Hunter and Brooklyn Stutzman; sister, Addie Drum; and nieces and nephews, Becky Drum Brandenburg, Patrick Drum, Mary Kay Wozny, Geoffrey Wozny, Tim Wozny and Jeanne Gaylord.

Dorothy enjoyed family get-togethers and genealogy; ballroom dancing and Big Band music; collecting Disney and Wizard of Oz memorabilia.

Remembrances to Scotus Educational Fund.

Funeral Mass will be on Monday, October 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bonaventure Church. There will not be a visitation.
