Doris Nyffeler

Doris Emily Ann Nyffeler, 99, of Columbus died Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Cottonwood Place in Columbus.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. October 11th, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus.  Visitation is Friday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time. There will be a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service.  Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.

Doris was born April 15, 1925, in Creston, NE, to Charles and Anna (Hoesly) Marx. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Creston. She attended Country School District 53 in Platte County, Creston Public High School, and Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska.

Doris worked at the Platte County Courthouse.  She married Roland Nyffeler on June 13, 1946, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Creston.  The couple lived on the farm southwest of Columbus until moving to Columbus in 1973. Doris resided there until June 2015, when she moved to Cottonwood Place where she resided until her death.

Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Bible school and Sunday school for a number of years. She was also a member of various other clubs including county extension clubs. Doris enjoyed being outside and loved farm life. She faithfully canned all kinds of produce and loved baking pies.

Survivors include one son, Gene (Kaye) Nyffeler of Omaha, daughter-in-law, Sharon Nyffeler of Columbus; one grandson, Scott (Levi) Nyffeler of Orlando, Florida; four granddaughters, Debbie Windedahl of Norfolk, Tracy (Frank) Pike of Denver, Colorado, Nicole (Ben) Haffke of LaVista, Kerri (Jeremy) Buckley of Omaha; five great-granddaughters, and five great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Marx; one sister, Rose Kapels; one brother, Clarence Marx; her husband, Roland, Nyffeler; and one son, Mark Nyffeler.
