Doris Fern Kummetz, 84, of Columbus died Monday, July 24, 2006 at Beverly Health Care in Columbus. Services are 10:30 am Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Visitation is on Thursday from 4-8 pm at McKown Funeral Home and continues on Friday from 9:30 am until service time at Trinity Lutheran Church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 am Friday, also at the church. Interment is in the Columbus Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.
Doris Fern Kummetz was born October 2, 1921 in St. Edward to John and Pearl (Wells) Hood. She graduated from St. Edward High School in 1939. On April 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Norman Kummetz in Columbus. Doris worked for JCPenney in Albion and the Blue Bird Dress Shop in Columbus for 30 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Eagles Auxiliary, and bowled for several years. She enjoyed baseball games, flowers, and her dog Trixie.
