Doris L. Gregorius, age 93, of Columbus died Monday; April 21, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday; April 23, 2003 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning from 8:00 -10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.
Doris L. Gregorius was born April 23, 1909 in Kearney, Nebraska to Albert R. and Tracy (Webster) Winslow. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1928. She played piano for silent movies and dances in Gibbon. while in Gibbon she also played in a dance orchestra called the Dreamland Entertainers. Doris worked for the Nebraska Continental Telephone Company in Kearney until being transferred to Columbus in 1932. She married William Gregorius, Jr. on June 30, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska. They lived in various cities in Nebraska until moving to Columbus in the late 1940's. Doris worked at the city water office and city clerk office. She also worked for the Platte County Fair as the office manager for 35 years and bookeeper for 40 years. The 1984 Fair Book was dedicated to her for her years of service. She was inducted into the Platte County Agricultural Society Hall of Fame. Doris was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and the Hospital Auxiliary where she did volunteer work.
