Donna Engel

Donna Engel, age 88, of Silver Creek, Nebraska died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Genoa Community Hospital – LTC.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Silver Creek, NE. Visitation is from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will take place in Jackson Cemetery prior to the funeral service. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held at the church.

Donna Engel was born August 23, 1934, to Sam and Faye Wyman on the family farm near Silver Creek. She attended District 23 for grades 1-8 in Polk County. Her sister, Dorothy Burger, was her 3 ^rd -4 ^th grade teacher. Donna graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1952. On September 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Drexel "Andy" Engel in Silver Creek. To this union were four boys: Randy, Rick, Robb and Roger.

Donna spent her early years devoted to her four boys. She loved to cook, bake, and keep those boys out of trouble. She was an expert cream puff baker. Andy and Donna raised cattle, farmed, and followed the horse races, as Andy owned and trained numerous thoroughbreds over the years. Three of her sons also trained and owned racehorses. Donna loved going to see those races!
