Donald Seiler, Sr. of rural Monroe died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at his home following the death of his beloved wife earlier this week.
Donald Edward Seiler, Sr. was born February 6, 1925 in Grand Island, NE to Edward and Anna (Brandl) Seiler. Don lived in Columbus as a young boy. He attended St. Bonaventure Elementary where he was crowned the marble champion. As a teenager he moved to Monroe where he attended Monroe High School. Don entered the US Navy in 1943. He served during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific on four ships and one submarine as a Navy cook. He was discharged in 1946. Don returned to Nebraska and married Jeanette Mae Morrow on October 16th, 1947. Don was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and sports. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Genoa and the VFW.

25 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren
