Donald F. Scheinost , 87, born September 20, 1926 in Ideal, SD and passed away January 10, 2014.
Don grew up in North Bend, NE. He graduated from North Bend High School in 1944 and then enlisted and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Idaho during the Iwo Jima invasion. Don was united in marriage to Betty Moore on November 12th, 1950 at the Nemaha Christian Church. He and Betty were married for 64 years until her passing in 2012. They moved from North Bend to Columbus where Don worked as a Manager at the Hinky Dinky Supermarket over 25 years before he retired.
Don loved people. He was an avid fisherman, loved to garden and enjoyed being with friends serving at the VFW #3704.
Don is survived by sisters, Eileen (and husband Leonard) Dahlheim of Fremont,
Norma Hamilton and Evelyn Winkelman of North Bend, brother-in-law Dale (and wife Ann) Moore of Denver, CO, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
