Donald Mostek, 81, of Columbus, died Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the Central Nebraska Veteran Home in Kearney.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 Thursday, March 21, 2024 at St. Isidore Catholic Church. Visitation is Wednesday 3-5 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home. There will be a 5:00 p.m. vigil service. Military honors will be conducted by The American Legion Hartman Post #84 Honor Guard.
Don was born December 12, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska to Del and Emily (Buzynski) Mostek. At an early age he moved to Columbus where he received his education at St. Bonaventure Grade School and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School. He served in the United States Army stationed in Germany as a microwave radio repairman from 1964-1967. Don was honorably discharged with the National Defense Medal, Sharp Shooter Rifle Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was united in marriage to Tammy Gdowski on July 18, 1998. Don enjoyed fishing, word puzzles, painting, ceramics and learning, reading and talking American History.
Don is survived by his wife: Tammy Mostek , sister: Marilyn (Bruce) Motley, sister-in-laws: Betty (Mike) Grell, Cindy Gdowski, brother-in-laws: Dan (Ann) Gdowski and Bob (Lisa) Gdowski, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents Del and Emily Mostek and his son: Michael Mostek.
