Donald L. Chudomelka, age 85, of Columbus,formerly of Dodge and Clarkson entered eternal rest on Friday, April 12, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
Donald L. Chudomelka was born February 9, 1928 in Dodge, Nebraska to Louis F. and Josephine (Vodvarka) Chudomelka. He grew up on a farm east of Dodge with his parents and brother Allan. Don attended Dodge Public Schools where he graduated from Dodge High School in 1946. He married JoAnn Kopietz on August 4, 1949 at the Presbyterian Church in Clarkson. They were blessed with 3 children; Douglas Kieth, Jocelyn Ann and Holly Beth and suffered the loss of twin boys in 1969.
Don was an active member of the Presbyterian Church for many years. He was also a youth fellowship leader of the church and was very active in the Czech Days Celebration. Don and his family farmed north of Clarkson for many years until they moved into the new home they built in Dodge in 1971. Don became employed at Wimmers Meat Plant in Dodge then with the North Bend Meat Plant with Hugh Helgenberger. He also drove school bus for Dodge Public Schools for many years, Farmers Garage in Dodge and with Vacine, Inc. of Clarkson.
Don enjoyed many hobbies such as fishing, hunting, woodcrafts, gardening, making homemade goodies and the outdoors.
Don lost is loving wife, JoAnn, to breast cancer on December 12, 1993. He got remarried to Edith Ricci on May 20, 2000 at which time made his home in Osceola. They later moved to Columbus and in recent years Don was a resident at the Golden Living Center in Columbus.
