Don Bell

Donald L Bell (80) of rural Monroe passed away January 9 ^th 2021 peacefully at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, January 15, 2021 at St Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery after services. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday with a 7:00 vigil service at the McKown Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 AM Friday at the church.  Please follow COVID-19 DHM's at both the visitation and funeral. The Mass and vigil service will be broadcast live on the McKown Funeral Home Facebook page.

Don Bell son of Fred and Rose (Reinke) Bell was born July 16, 1940 in Columbus.  He was baptized in his church.   He attended District # 44 school and graduated from Kramer High school in 1957.   Don worked for Behlen Manufacturing Company after graduating high school.  He lived and farmed all his life in Platte County and also did farm work his grandmother Katherine Bell.  Farming was the joy of his life.  He also worked as a USDA inspector at various locations across several states for a number years.

Don was united in marriage to Ann J Mick on December 28, 1967 at St Joseph Catholic Church by Bellwood, four children were born to this union.  They made their home by Genoa on a farm then moved to Monroe on a farm.  He enjoyed fishing in his farm pond that he developed from an artesian well.  Don enjoyed going to his kids and grandkids sports especially football and basketball.

He is survived by:
His wife of 53 years Ann (Mick) Bell
Three children: daughter Lori Bell of Omaha, son Jason (Denise) Bell of Dahinda, IL, son Jeff (April) Bell of Firth
Grandchildren, Nathan, Makenna, Carson, and Rylen Bell.
Survived by Brother Delane (Mary) Bell Sequim, WA.
