Dominic Zarek

Dominic Zarek, age 71, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at his home. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Jeff Loseke officiating. Visitation is 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Wednesday morning from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial is in the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.

Dominic was born April 14, 1936 in Columbus to Sylvester and Rose (Bernecki) Zarek. He grew up in Columbus where he attended St. Anthony's Grade School and graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in 1953. Dominic worked as a truck driver for BD Construction until he retired in 1997 due to illness.

Dominic married Dorothy Scarrow on September 5, 1970 in Concordia, Kansas. Dorothy passed away in 1978.

Dominic's pleasure in life was spending time with his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He enjoyed making picture collages of his family, taking drives, visiting with friends, woodworking, and playing cards. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Eagle's Club.
