Dolores Lucille Slovinski, 91, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:00 am Monday, January 17, 2005 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Reverend Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation is on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm , also at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Monday morning from 8:00 -9:30 am at McKown Funeral Home. Interment is in St. Michael's Cemetery in Tarnov, Nebraska.
Dolores L. Slovinski was born December 15, 1913 in LaMotte, Iowa to John and Irene (Hayes) Hingtgen. She was raised in Iowa and attended St. Mary's school in Dubuque. Dolores married Fred Whitaker on February 15,1939 in Rock Island, Illinois. He died in 1940. She later married Alex Slovinski on December 10, 1945 in Moline, Illinois. The couple lived in Buffalo, NY, Cleveland, OH and Denver, CO before moving to Duncan, Nebraska in 1968. Alex died August 23, 1973. Dolores moved to Columbus in 2002. She was a homemaker and worked at the New World Inn. She was a member of St. Isidore Church and a former member of St. Stanislaus Church in Duncan. While living in Duncan she was also a member of St. Ann's Society, Lions Club, Golden Age Club and A.A.R.P.
