Dolores Montag, age 88, of Columbus died Saturday, May 27, 2017 at David Place in David City, Nebraska.
Dolores Montag was born April 7, 1929 in Columbus, Nebraska to Walter and Hattie (Johnson) Heibel.
Dolores married Clyde Oppliger on April 3, 1949 in Columbus, Nebraska. They owned and operated a large cattle operation, with over 1000 head in feedlots. Clyde passed away on July 29, 1985. Dolores continued operating the farm and feed yard for 10 more years, receiving outstanding awards from the Nebraska Feeders Association and The Columbus Area Farmers.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church her entire life. Dolores served in many ways, including being on staff as a Parish Worker, serving on the Church Council, singing in the choir, directing Vacation Bible School, teaching Sunday School, and serving on the Endowment Committee. On July 11, 1987 Dolores married Paul Montag. She lived on the family farm for more than 65 years, moving to David Place in 2015.
