Dolores "Brownie" Kobza, age 74, of Columbus, Nebraska died Monday December 15, 2003 at her home. Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday December 18, 2003 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Burial is in the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation is after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday with an 8:00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home.
Dolores was born on September 25, 1929, in rural Butler County, to Albert & Agnes (Slechta) Jisa. She attended school at Dwight Assumption Catholic School. She married John J. Kobza on September 27, 1949 at Dwight Assumption Catholic Church. They farmed near Loma, Ne., ran the Hilltop Cafe in Brainard, Ne. then later moved to Schuyler, Ne., where they owned & operated the Town Pump tavern. In 1964 they moved to Columbus where Dolores worked for Becton Dickenson for 28 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church , St. Isidore Christian Mothers and the Becton Dickenson Alumni. Dolores loved canning, baking & cooking for family & friends. She also was a avid polka lover.
