Dennis Pytel, age 86, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday April 27, 2002 at Mory's Haven in Columbus. Funeral Services are 10:00 a.m. Friday; May 3, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Rev. Christopher Grimmond will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the McKown Funeral Home with a 7:30 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will be at the St. Michaels Cemetery in Tarnov with military honors by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.
Dennis Pytel was born September 2, 1915 in Tarnov, Nebraska to Stanley and Sophia (Gdowski). He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1942 - 1945. Following his discharge Dennis lived in Omaha doing construction jobs for 18 years before moving to Columbus where he did various jobs. He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Holy Name, and V.F.W. #3704. Dennis enjoyed fishing and baseball.
