Delores &Quot;Dee&Quot; Shannon

Dee died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at her home.

Delores "Dee" Shannon was born July 16, 1931 near Clarkson, Nebraska to Gerhard and Martha (Steiner) Huismann. She lived on a farm north of Leigh and graduated from Leigh High School and then from beauty college in Grand Island. She worked in Grand Island until 1951 when she married Reynold Spulak. They lived in Dodge, Schuyler and Columbus where they operated a John Deere Implement Business for a number of years. She later married John Shannon on April 24, 1982. The couple lived in Columbus until November of 1998 when they began traveling. Their travels took them to Alaska, Washington and New Jersey during the summer and Yuma, Arizona for the winter. Dee worked at N.P.P.D. and for years at the Columbus Bank and the First National Bank. She later worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier in Columbus and Yuma until retiring. Dee enjoyed bowling and spending time with her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, V.F.W. and Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Eagles Club for 47 years where she served as treasurer and was president from 1986 - 1987.
