September 8, 1927 — July 12, 2014

Dee passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the David Place in David City, Nebraska.

Delores Marie (Bailey) Kneifel was born on September 8, 1927 to Charles and Myrtle (Rice) Bailey. She grew up in Colfax and Platte County, NE. She was the older of 2 children. Delores received her early education at a rural Colfax, NE school and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1946. She attended Normal School training and taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Nebraska. Delores and her husband Carl (Dutch) owned and operated the Longbranch Bar on 11th street in Columbus for 12 years. She opened the 11th Street Second Hand Sales store, also on 11th street and successfully ran it for 12 years after the death of Dutch in 1986.

Delores married the love of her life on December 27, 1947, beginning a 39 year loving union, marked by a faith-filled devotion, which inspired their family always. Their 4 children were raised in Columbus NE. Delores practiced her Catholic faith as exemplified by her devotion to the Mass, the Daily Rosary, Eucharistic Adoration, and her 25 year involvement as a Third Order Franciscan. Delores was involved in many organizations throughout her life. She did what she could, whenever she could, to the best of her ability. Her 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren were special joys in her life. She always said how blessed she was.

Delores loved to dance with her beloved husband, Dutch, refurnish furniture, and attend to her flower gardens. She will fondly be remembered for her sense of humor, caring heart, gentle eyes, and strong personality. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Delores was preceded in death by her by her parents Charles R. Bailey and Myrtle E. (Rice) Booth, her husband Carl and her son John.

Survived by children: Joseph (Cheri) Kneifel of North Platte, NE, Sr. Jeannette Kneifel OSF of Colorado Springs, CO, Jacqueline Kneifel of Auburn, NE, and Joyce (Dale) Smith of Seward NE. 9 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren
