Dean Wessel

Dean J. Wessel, age 59, of Columbus died Monday, July 25, 2005 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2005 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. The Rev. Tom Weisbecker will officiate. Burial will be in the All Saints Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday after 5:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a 7:00 p.m. vigil service also at the church. Visitation will continue Thursday morning 8-10 a.m. at the McKown Funeral Home.

Dean J. Wessel was born October 9, 1945 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Urban and Corrine (Schaecher) Wessel. He grew up in Humphrey and graduated from Humphrey St. Francis in 1964. Dean served in the Army National Guard following high school. Dean married Shirley Holmberg on October 7, 1967 in Spencer, Nebraska. He then moved to Columbus were he worked at Fleischer Mfg., Behlen Mfg., Orion and most recently at Columbus Hydraulics. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Knights of Columbus #938 and past Boy Scout leader. Dean enjoyed gardening, golfing, camping, sports and spending time with his family and friends.
