Dawn (Larsen) Wiese, age 42, of Columbus, died Sunday following a brave life-long battle against diabetes.
Dawn was born January 17, 1971 in Fremont, Ne to LaVern and Sharon (Shepard) Larsen. She grew up with her family on a farm east of Hooper which is where she fell in love with the country and horses. She attended a rural school and graduated from Logan View High School in 1989. While in High School she was active in volleyball, cheerleading, and the Hooper Saddle Club. During summers she enjoyed working as a lifeguard and manager of the Hooper swimming pool. Dawn attended Wayne State College and graduated in 1993 with a degree in business. And at this college, she met her future husband, Darren Wiese. After graduation she worked at American National Bank in Fremont until they were married in 1995 and made their home in Columbus. Dawn and Darren had two boys and she was always very proud of her family as they were her biggest joy. At the time of her passing, she was employed at Pillen Family Farms in the accounting department.
But most importantly, Dawn was the most genuine, caring, and unselfish person you would ever meet. She would place others needs before her own and do anything for a friend in need. Even though she was an avid Nebraska football and volleyball fan, she enjoyed watching her boys sporting events even more. She loved spending time with family and friends, and Dawns bright smile will be missed by all.
