David G. Brandl, Sr. died Sunday, November 17, 2002 at his home in Columbus. Funeral services are 10:30 am Wednesday, November 20 at St. Isidore Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation will be after 4 pm on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning from 8-10 at McKown Funeral Home. There will be a Vigil service on Tuesday at 7:00 pm at McKown Funeral Home. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.
David G. Brandl, Sr. was born May 5, 1928 in Cornlea, Nebraska to Joe and Mercedes (Deegan) Brandl. He grew up in the Cornlea & Humphrey area and attended school in Cornlea and Humphrey High. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1949 - 1952. On May 31, 1951 David was united in marriage to Darlene Hecker in Columbus, Nebraska. The couple lived and farmed north of Monroe for 50 years until retiring and moving to Columbus in 1996. David was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and previously served with the Civil Defense. His hobbies included C. B. radios, fishing and spending time with his family.
