David Massman, of Columbus, died Thursday, July 5, 2018 in Omaha.
David "Dave" Massman 72, was born on May 14, 1946 to Jesse and Ardith Massman. Dave was born and raised in Cedar Rapids Nebraska where he graduated from Cedar Rapids High School. He then graduated with degrees in Mathematics from Wayne State College (Bachelors degree) and University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Masters degree).
Dave taught Mathematics in the Columbus Public school system for 32 years. He then taught 5 years at North High School in Omaha, Nebraska and, 1 year at Fremont High School in Fremont, Nebraska. Dave coached football and basketball for many years while working in the Columbus system. He also coached T-ball, minor, and major league baseball during the summers while his two sons were participating.
During his teaching career Dave also owned and operated a shingling/home repair/painting business. He loved working with his hands and enjoyed the comradery working with fellow teachers out of the educational setting.
Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane (Fenton) Massman. He is also survived by two sons: Mark Massman, wife Becky, grandsons Joseph and Nathaniel, granddaughters Sarah and Anna; and Jeff Massman, wife Jayme, grandsons Phinehas, Stephen, Samuel, and Benjamin.
Dave is also survived by three sisters: Diane (Don) Soukup and Denise Teeke both of Henderson Nevada, and Dortha (Jim) Jarvis of Salt Lake City, Utah.
