David Macken

David Lee Macken, 79, passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2026 surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Dave was born December 14, 1946 in this same home to Jerome and Odilia (Mausbach) Macken.

Dave had a wonderful childhood full of farming and family, with his six siblings. There was a lot of love and mischief.

He attended grade school thru high school in Platte Center and graduated in 1965. He enjoyed playing sports in school, excelling in basketball and football.

On July 19, 1969, he was united in marriage to Belinda Goering at St. Joseph Church in Platte Center where they raised their three children.

He spent his time fishing, gold panning, hunting, playing cards, constructing, making wine, and loving his family. He loved all his grandchildren very deeply and enjoyed time at the lake with them. And don’t forget getting buckets to hold the frogs from the pool. He made them many special memories, toy swords and rubber band guns, and they loved him very much.

He loved his wife Belinda and was always working on projects for their home together, teasing her all along the way with his silly jokes. They traveled the country as well working together side by side. Inseparable, they were always together. And together they built a wonderful life and home for their children.

Dave will be greatly missed by his many friends and family, including his children, 7 grandchildren along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Belinda Son: Todd (Christina) Macken Son: Shawn (Joey) Macken and their children Gabriel, Ella (Jackson) Fisher, James, Norah and Eva. Daughter: Nicole (Lonny) Cyza and their children Amelia and Fisher Brothers: Kenny Macken, Tom (Karen) Macken, Jerry (Enid) Macken, Doug (Janette) Macken Many Nieces and Nephews

David was preceded in death by his parents Jerome and Odilia (Mausbach), sister Bonnie Tessendorf and husband Gary, sister Betty Christensen and husband Tim, and sister-in-law Kathy Macken.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Sunday May 31, 2026 at Dave and Belinda’s home at 2:00 pm. At 30429 257th Avenue, Platte Center, NE. All friends and family are invited to attend and honor Dave's vibrant spirit.
