David W. Boyd

David died Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his home in Columbus.

David W. Boyd was born on Sept. 6th, 1943 in Columbus, Nebraska to Eugenia and Gayle Boyd. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1961. He lived and worked in Denver, Colorado and Albuquerque, New Mexico before going into the Army in 1966. He served in both Korea and Vietnam. He then returned to Columbus to join his father and uncle in the family business, Boyd Hardware. He opened a Boyd Frame Shop in Loveland, Colorado and later moved to Kearney, Nebraska to own and operate an Equestrian Center. Most recently he has been employed at Ace Hardware here in Columbus.

He is survived by his two sisters, Barbara Park of Richmond, Virginia and Mary Allerton of Omaha, Nebraska and his best friend in the world and partner in life Barb Sedlacek. He leaves behind nieces and nephews and many, wonderful friends. David was a true gentleman and a gentle man. He will be greatly missed.
