In Loving Memory of Daniel Sherman Grant

Daniel Sherman Grant, 62, of Columbus, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Columbus Community Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life for close family and friends will be held at a later date.

Dan was born on June 14, 1963, in Santa Ana, California, to Roseanna and Jerry Vernoy. At the age of 15, he moved to Nebraska, where he built a life rooted in hard work, family, and friendship. Throughout his career as a machinist and coordinator, Dan was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Dan embraced life with enthusiasm and enjoyed many of his favorite pastimes, including NASCAR racing, fishing, golfing, and cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Whether spending a day on the water, watching a race, or celebrating a Husker victory, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. Above all else, Dan cherished time spent with family, gathering around homemade meals, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts: his wife, Sandra Grant; his children, Nicole (Phil) Brown, Christopher (Megan) Grant, Brittiny (Austin) Gillotte, and Bridgett Grant (Jackson Carmusin); 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, James (Janice) Grant, Lisa (Robert) Jack, and Toni (Scott) Pelc, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Roseanna and Jerry Vernoy; his grandson, Asher Gillotte; and his nephew, Michael Grant.

Dan's legacy lives on through the love he shared, the family he cherished, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, and generous spirit. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
