Daniel Casey

Daniel J. Casey, age 75, passed away on October 9, 2024 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Services to celebrate Dan's life will be on October 24, 2024 at the McKown Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. There will be a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. with Fr. Joseph Miksch officiating. Visitation will conclude at 5:00 p.m.

He was born on March 28, 1949 in Columbus, NE to James P. and Mary A. (Murphy) Casey. Raised in Columbus NE, Dan graduated from Columbus High School in 1967.  He entered the military serving his country in the United States National Guard from which he received an honorable discharge in 1969.

Dan was united in marriage to Cynthia Wake in 1969.  They were blessed with two children, Sean Casey and Megan Casey Levitt.

Spending his entire career in the auto industry as owner and operator of Casey's Body Shop and C & S Cars, he retired from his car business in 2020.   Dan was an avid car and motorcycle enthusiast with a passion for all things automotive. He also loved to travel, exploring new places and creating lasting memories. Above all, spending time with friends and family was always important to him. He was generous with his time and always willing to lend a helping hand to others.

Survived by daughter, Megan (Shawn) Levitt of Lincoln, NE; sisters, Peg (Nelson) Rathert of Lakewood, CO and Maribeth (Wes) Went of Leigh, NE; and brother, Pat Casey of Melbourne, FL.   Multiple cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
