Dale Long

Dale passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 at the Columbus Community Hospital.

Services are 10:30 April 8, 2025 at the McKown Funeral Home. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. April 7, 2025 also at the funeral home. Interment is in the Columbus Cemetery.

Dale Leon Long was born October 10, 1939 in Albion, Nebraska to Elmer and Clara (Blair) Long.  He grew up and attended school in St. Edward, Nebraska. Dale married his wife, Beverly (Morisch) Long on June 16, 1962 in Albion, Nebraska. They lived most of their lives in Columbus, Nebraska where they raised their family of four children. He worked various jobs and retired from Excel (Cargill) Packing House in Schuyler, Nebraska after more than 30 years of service.  Dale enjoyed annual vacations with his family, fishing, camping, and playing cards. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dale is survived by his children: Connie (Allen) Peterson, Sherry (Ric) Karlin, Sandy (Wayne) Martensen, and Richard (Jennifer Humphries) Long; his sister, June (Don) Everhart; and his brother, Earl (Patsy) Long; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Dale was met in heaven by his beloved wife, Beverly (Bev) Long; his parents, Elmer and Clara Long; and his brother, Arnold Long.
