Dale Hassebrook, 63, of Columbus died Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Columbus Community Hospital after a tough battle against lung cancer.
Dale was born August 15, 1952 in Columbus, Nebraska to Harold and Elvera (Husmann) Hassebrook. He graduated from Columbus High School in 1970 and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Dale moved back to Columbus after college to join the family business, Hassebrook Farm Service. A few years later, he moved on as owner of Hassebrook Construction and spent many years in agri-business. He most recently worked at Columbus Hydraulics while owning and managing rental properties. On October 30, 1976, he was united in marriage to Gaylene (Carlson) Hassebrook. They had two daughters, Amy and Sarah. Dale was a dedicated, loving, amazing husband and father who loved his family unconditionally. He enjoyed fishing, boating, watching the Huskers, and spending time with his family and friends any way that he could. Dale was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Columbus where he served many years on the Board of Trustees. He was also a member of Osceola Masonic Lodge. His family and friends will remember him for his kindness, patience, and dedication to others.
