Dale G. Van Dyke was born on 10-24-1938 to Leo and Elizabeth (Geilenkirchen) Van Dyke in rural Lindsay, NE. He graduated from Lindsay Holy Family in 1956 and after high school, he served in the US Army from September 1956 – September 1958. After the service he attended Spencer School of Business in Grand Island, NE. On May 20, 1961 he was united in marriage to Barbara L. Merrill in Silver Creek, NE. They moved to Columbus where Dale was, employed at Saunders Archery then at Becton-Dickenson where he was an accountant for 37.5 years. Dale was a member of St Bonaventure Church.
Dale was a devoted husband and father and to him family was everything. He coached his son's little league baseball teams and loved the Huskers. He was an avid hunter and took great pride in training his many coonhounds, Brittany spaniels, and Jack Russell terriers over the years. Dale shared his love of hunting with his son and grandsons on many deer hunts and wisdom sharing weekends in the duck blind. He enjoyed wood working, gardening and could always be found working on a project in "the shed". Following his retirement from B-D he worked for Preferred Genetics and had a small cow-calf herd to keep him busy.
