Cyrus Janicek of Columbus died Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Columbus Community Hospital.
Cyrus F. Janicek was born March 3, 1915, at home in Butler County to Rudolph and Justena (Flaxel) Janicek. Cy attended Kramer High School in Columbus and the University of Nebraska Agricultural College. Cy farmed for 46 years in Polk County before retiring to Columbus. He was united in marriage to Emma Nebosis in 1936. Emma died in 1971. On October 24, 1975, Cy was united in marriage to Irma Romanek.
Cy was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 938, the Eagles Club, and the Elks Club. Cy enjoyed playing cards, golfing, traveling, reading, and bowling.
