Cyril Zoucha died Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Columbus Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Cyril A. Zoucha was born December 16, 1931, in rural Platte County, NE to Mike and Leona (Tworek) Zoucha. He grew up in the rural Tarnov and Lindsay area. Cyril served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from July 1952 to April 1954. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Nienaber on June 6, 1956 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay. The couple farmed northwest of Monroe until 1965. They moved to Columbus where Cyril worked as a carpenter until 1967. They then returned to farming and during that time Cyril became an auctioneer. In 1979 they moved back to Columbus where Cyril started and owned Zoucha Auction and Realty Company. He was instrumental in developing a steering committee to bring real estate classes to Central Community College.
Cyril was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He was a very active member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9264 and held various offices at the State level. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Faithful Navigator for John F. Kennedy Assembly #0605. Cyril enjoyed auctioneering, deer hunting, putting his skills to work as a carpenter, and listening to polka and country music. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
