Cynthia “Kay” Ridgeway

Cynthia "Kay" Ridgeway died Monday, January 13, 2025, in the care of her favorite nurse at Good Samaritan Center, Albion, NE.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Levander Funeral Home, Albion, NE with Rev. Linde Lynde officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Levander Funeral Home, Albion, NE.

Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements.

Cynthia 'Kay" Ridgeway was born December 9, 1937, in Albion, Nebraska to Wayne and Sylvia (Bartak) Mignery. She received her education in Albion where she graduated from high school in 1955. She continued her education at Wayne State Teacher College. She taught elementary school prior to her marriage.

On August 10, 1958, she was united in marriage to James T. Ridgeway at the United Methodist Church in Albion. They lived in Ft. Collins, Colorado, where Steve and John were born. In 1964 they returned to Albion, where she has lived since. Along with raising her family, Kay helped Jim at the Albion Veterinary Clinic.

She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed quilting with her friends. Kay was an avid reader and served on the Albion Public Library board for many years. She enjoyed her family and welcomed the arrival of each new grandchild and great grandchild.

Kay is survived by her husband: Jim Ridgeway; children: Steve (Angie) Ridgeway; John (Sheila) Ridgeway; Gregg (Shelly) Ridgeway; Jill (Kent) Wells; grandchildren: Dana (Justin) Turkel; Zach (Morgan) Ridgeway; Nick (Emily) Ridgeway; Sadie (Torey) Warren; Parker (Sydney) Ridgeway; Jake Wells; Olivia (Austin) Wells; great-grandchildren: Hollynn, Emmitt, Max, Cecilia, Annora, Margo, August, Murphy, Abigail, Charlotte, and Layne.

She was preceded in death by her infant son: Thomas; parents: Wayne & Sylvia Mignery; and sister: Julie Krohn.
