Curtis Peterson

Curtis "Curt" Peterson, 90, of Genoa, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2020 at the Genoa Community Hospital.

Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and will continue Saturday from 9:30-10:30 A.M. at the church. Interment with Military Honors conducted by the Genoa American Legion Edward H. Larson Post 144 Honor Guard will be in Valley View Cemetery.

In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials can be given to Augustana Lutheran Church, Genoa Indian School Museum, or for the education of Genoa Volunteer Firefighters and EMTs.

Curtis "Curt" Peterson was born on the family farm west of Genoa January 4, 1930, to Louis C. and Marie (Schow) Peterson. He attended District 63 school in Nance County and graduated from Genoa High School in 1947. He then attended the Lincoln School of Commerce. Curtis lived his entire life in Nance County, excluding his time serving in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. On June 28, 1959 he married the love of his life, Anne Adams. To this union, the couple was blessed with three children. The family lived on the farm that Curtis's grandparents settled where he farmed and fed cattle his entire life. Throughout his life, Curtis was involved in several organizations. He was a member of the hospital board, school board, Genoa Medical Foundation, Nance County Board of Supervisors, was a 4-H Leader and was a guide at the Genoa Indian Museum. Curtis was a life-long member of Augustana Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was a Sunday school teacher. Curtis was a regular blood donor and took pride in donating every opportunity he could. Curtis was also active in the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his beloved wife. Curtis loved supporting his grandchildren in the various activities they participated in through the years… he never missed a county fair! Curtis had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
