Clem Gronenthal, 87, of Columbus died Thursday October 25 at Columbus Community Hospital. Services are 10:00 am on Monday October 29 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 5:00 pm at St. Isidore Church with a Vigil Service set for 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday morning from 8-9:45 am at McKown Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lindsay Holy Family Cemetery.
Clem was born August 23, 1914 in Platte Center, Nebraska to John and Emma (Schroeder) Gronenthal. He received his education at Platte Center. He served in the Civilian Corp and later in the U.S. Navy from April 7, 1942 until his discharge on November 11, 1945. On February 26, 1946 he was married to Mildred Schumacher at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cornlea, Nebraska. He farmed in the Lindsay area until he retired and moved into Columbus. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, the Knight of Columbus Council #12086, and the American Legion .
