Clara A. Skorupa, age 99, of Duncan died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at her home in Duncan. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2006 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan. The Rev. Frank Jindra will officiate. Visitation is after 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the church in Duncan. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the church. Visitation will continue Friday morning 9:30 a.m. until service time at church. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus.
Clara A. Skorupa was born May 18, 1906 in Polk County, Nebraska to Charles W. and Victoria (Briggs) Skorupa. She grew up on the family farm south of the Platte River. She attended Polk County District #11 and graduated from Columbus High School in 1925. She was appointed Acting Postmaster of Duncan in July 1926 and Postmaster in November 1926. She retired in 1970. She was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Duncan, St. Ann's Sodality and sang with the church choir. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter in Columbus.
