Cindy Houdesheldt died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Columbus Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Cindy Houdesheldt was born on April 5, 1950 in Schuyler to Wallace and Evelyn (Legler) Vanicek. She attended country school east of Schuyler and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1968. She continued her education and graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce in 1969. Cindy was united in marriage to Leon Houdesheldt on August 30, 1969 at the Presbyterian Church in Schuyler. They lived in Columbus NE throughout their lives. Cindy worked at Dale Electronics for three years before starting her own day care following the birth of their first child. She had the daycare for 40 years and was proud that the children she cared for, now grown with families of their own would bring their children to her. She also worked for a while at Peace Lutheran pre-school after closing her business. Cindy enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays, visiting with friends and spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren. She was a Cub Scout leader and was active in car clubs with her husband.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Son Brian (Kim) Houdesheldt, Grandson Alexzander: Daughter-in-law Tonia Becker Houdesheldt and grandsons Chase Houdesheldt and Trevor Becker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Kent Vanicek and Son Allen.
