Charlotte "Charlee" Carrig of Columbus died Friday, December 13,2024 at Edgewood in Columbus.

Charlee Carrig was born October 28,1933 to Charlie and Mary (Govern) Schutt. She spent most of her life in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1951. She lived a short time in Long Beach, California and then returned to Columbus. In 1954, she married Bob Carrig and lived in Spokane, Washington where Bob was stationed in the Air Force. When he was discharged, they returned to Columbus and raised 5 children.

Charlee was a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, as well as a member of the St. Theresa Sodality, the Catholic Daughters and was a Eucharistic minister alongside her husband at St. Anthony's Church for many years. Charlee was also an accomplished artist. She created "Santas by Charlee" and turned her wood carving hobby into a very successful career, creating beautifully hand-carved Santas that have been cherished by so many.

She also had her own ceramic shop in their house on 8th Street, complete with kiln and shelves full of unpainted ceramics, where she taught her ceramics classes. Charlee painted a lot and also made beaded and stone jewelry. Her artistic talents were appreciated by many. Were you one of the lucky ones that got a "Cent-a-Clause"? She also spent her time with volunteer work. Bob and Charlee celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on July 28,2019, a wonderful day that was celebrated by so many of their friends and family.
