Charles "Donnie" Schnelle, age 70, of Monroe, Nebraska died Wednesday, September 1, 2021 in Spokane, Washington.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2021, at McKown Funeral Home in Columbus. Military Honors will be performed by Hartman Post #84 American Legion Honor Guard.

Charles D. Schnelle was born January 11, 1951, in Quincy, Illinois to Carl and Shirley (Vahle) Schnelle. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam from August of 1969 – July of 1973. Following his discharge, he drove truck for 6 years. Donnie went back in the U.S. Army from March of 1980 – April of 1988. He spent 6 of those years in Germany touring the surrounding countries. Following the service, he went back to driving truck the past 33 years. On January 8, 1993, he was united in marriage to Joanne (Haley) Sutton. Donnie enjoyed traveling to Kansas City to watch NASCAR. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, making them French toast.  His laughter and phone calls will be greatly missed.

He is survived by:

Stepson: Tod Sutton – Granddaughters Allyson, Taylor and Shyanne
Stepson: Jeff (Rose) Sutton – Grandsons Tyson (Alison), Kyle (Hannah) Great Grandchildren (Lily & Grant) and Bryce
Stepson: Ron (Corie) Sutton – Grandchildren Amanda, Brandon (Lindsey) Great Granddaughters (Kallie and Klara), Angelica, Paige, Curtis and Kadren
Stepson: Terry (Megan) Sutton – Grandchildren Micah, Ryker, Easton, Tenley and Lena
Brother: Randy (Ruth) Schnelle – Nephews Scott, Michael and Nieces Stacy, Jennifer and Cheyenne
Brother: Kent (Kathy) Schnelle – Nephew Chase (Great Nieces and Nephews Emily, Kyan, Treven Chase, Chael) and Nicholas (Kayla)
Sister: Karla Fuller – Nephew Tim Fuller (Heather) (Great Nieces and Nephews Aicia and Trei), Zac (Ginna) Fuller and Great Nephew Brennan
