Cathern "Cathy" Wiehn, age 74, died Monday, March 18, 2024, at home surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation is Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service, all at McKown Funeral Home. There will be a CDA Rosary at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Visitation will continue Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Private family interment will take place in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be designated to St. Anthony Church, St. Bonaventure Church or Scotus Central Catholic High School.
Cathern Ann Wiehn was born on September 18th, 1949 in Columbus Nebraska to Joseph "Jiggs" and Hilda (Holtorf) Hoffman. She attended St. Bonaventure gradeschool and graduated from Scotus Central Catholic High school in 1967. She was united in marriage to Robert O. Walters, Sr. on August 31st, 1968 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, NE. Robert Sr. passed in 1990. On May 22nd, 1992 Cathern married Kevin H. Wiehn at St. Joesph Catholic Church in Platte Center, NE
Cathy worked at Gibsons; Gateway Realty; SoilMoverMfg.; Gottsche Rehabilitation Center in Thermopolis, WY; First Dakota National Bank in Yankton, SD; Midwest Federal Savings & Loan in Nebraska City, NE; United Parcel Service in Columbus for 16 yearsand at Central Community College – Columbus Campus.
As a child, she attended St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with her family. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and served both churches with Perpetual Hour of Adoration. Previously she was active with the 4-H Horse Club and The American Miniature Horse Association.
Cathy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at the lake cabin. She was an excellent slalom water skier. On acreages north of Columbus, she helped raise horses, miniature horses, chickens, and countless other farm animals. She enjoyed exploring ATV trails in the mountains of Wyoming. At weddings, Cathy danced to polkas and old-time rock and roll. Kind, caring, fun loving and generous, she supported her children and grandchildren in all their sports and music endeavors.
